
The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences offers a bachelors degree in speech-language pathology/audiology. The undergraduate curriculum fulfills preprofessional requirements; students who are considering a career in these disciplines must obtain a graduate degree prior to employment.

The University of Southern Mississippi began offering the Doctor of Audiology degree [ A u . D . ] in August 2005. The four-year program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation [ C A A ] of the American Speech- Language- Hearing Association [ A S H A ].

Applicants for graduate studies in audiology are accepted in Fall semesters only. Interested students should submit official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and G R E scores; materials should be submitted well in advance of the February 1st deadline.

Assistantships are available to highly qualified graduate students and provide tuition remission and a small stipend.
Individuals with a degree in another discipline may opt for a "leveling-in" sequence that consists of 30 hours of undegraduate prerequisites in communcation sciences. See our F A Q page for a list of course requirements. Once the "leveling-in" sequence is completed, students may apply for regular graduate admission.
