Are graduate students required to take comprehensive exams?

Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Students

The Praxis II specialty area tests in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology [known as the "A S H A Exams"] serve as the comprehensive examination for graduate students enrolled in these disciplines.

Master's degree students in speech-language pathology and Au.D. students must obtain a passing score on Praxis II, as defined by A S H A for the Certificate of Clincal Competence [ C C C ], prior to graduation.

Students are required to achieve the passing score in effect at the time the Praxis II is taken.

R0156- All students should use this reporting code in order to send Praxis II scores to the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences [a score of 600 is currently required to complete degree requirements].

R1497- If you are applying for teacher certification in speech-language pathology, use this reporting code to send Praxis II scores to the College of Education and Psychology's Certification Office [contact the Certification Office to find out the current passing score for state certification].

Early Oral Intervention Students

Students in the E O I program must complete a local comprehensive examination in order to complete degree requirements.
