Hilliary Walters
November, 2007- We learned earlier this month that our own Hilliary Walters, an S H S senior, has been named a HEADWAE recipient for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The Higher Education Appreciation Day, Working for Academic Excellence [HEADWAE] was established by Mississippi Legislative Resolution #88 in 1987 to annually honor talented students and faculty members of Mississippi's higher education institutions who have made outstanding contributions in promoting academic excellence.
The Appreciation Day, hosted by the Legislature each February in Jackson, is the Legislature's way of saying "thank you" to these individuals for their commitment to the future of Mississippi.
Hilliary is a USM honors student. She, along with Holly Spigener, presented the results of their respective honors theses earlier this semester at a lecture session sponsored by The College of Health. Both student projects were supervised by Dr. John Muma.
Hilliary is the daughter of Joe and Vicki Walters of Ellisville, Mississippi; she graduates in May of 2008.
All of us in Speech and Hearing Sciences join together in congratulating Hilliary for her selection as a 2007 HEADWAE honoree.
