Students Attend M S H A Conference

April 1, 2008- The Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association [ M S H A ] held its annual spring conference in Jackson, MS last week. The program allows professionals from throughout the state to meet and catch up on the year's activities as well as accrue continuing education credits.

USM students routinely play a supportive role at the convention, primarily serving as session monitors which includes introducing speakers. Virginia Berry, faculty adviser to both graduate and undergraduate student associations in S H S, coordinates the convention's session monitors. Ms. Berry also works closely with the continuing education component of the convention.

[Left to right] Holly McLain, Rachel Bernard, and Sharon Warren were recognized as members of USM's first Au.D. class.

Suzie Etheridge-Rosser, M S H A president, always does an incredible job putting together interesting conference speakers in both speech-language pathology and audiology. Suzie also pampers conference-goers with an incredible continental breakfast and afternoon "pick me up" treats. Most importantly, the coffee pot runs all day. :) Thanks so much, Suzie, for all the hard work.

We'd also like to thank MSHA for recognizing Rachel Bernard, Holly McLain, and Sharon Warren. These young women comprise our first Au.D. class. Due to begin their nine month externship in the Fall, our "three musketeers" will complete their degree requirements in the spring of 2009. Congratulations, ladies, for a job well done.
