10/01/08- Diane Coleman, Assistant to the Dean For Recruitment and Special Projects, sent us the following news about this year's breast cancer awareness activities in the College of Health. We thought we'd share the info with you, our readers, along with photos from the department.
The College of Health Ambassadors are supporting the Paint Southern Miss Pink campaign for breast cancer awareness by enticing and challenging you to get involved on the college-level, campus level and community level.
The Ambassadors are hosting a PINK DOOR CONTEST on TUESDAY, Oct. 7, just for faculty and staff within our college. Look for a flier posted in your area describing the four prize categories. Challenge another academic unit for bragging rights!
But note, one door entry per faculty or staff member and the person entering the contest must decorate their own door. Contact Reba Barber to enter the CoH contest.
Judges for the contest will be from outside of our college, many of them breast cancer survivors. So, let's impress them with our support!
(You may want to also enter the campus-wide PINK competition. Contact Tina Griffin NOW at 6-6910.)
PIG RACE !!!
The Ambassadors have also entered the CoH in the PIG RACE to Find a Cure. They need at least the $100 entry fee before the race on Tues., Oct. 14. So, to contribute to the cause and have a stake in the race, look for the cute piggy bank to appear soon in your main office. Then come and cheer for our pig in the race at noon in the Payne Center gym courts.
All Paint Southern Miss PINK activities benefit the local chapters of Waiting For A Cure and the American Cancer Society.

Speech and Hearing Sciences students did their part in promoting the "Pink Campaign" with what we'll call "No Door Left Behind." For the past week, office doors throughout the department have received a pink facelift. The creative resources of our graduate students never cease to amaze us. Many thanks to S S H A and N A F D A for sponsoring this year's activites.
We'd like to extend a special 'thank you' to Amber Tyson for coordinating the art. Amber created the giant mural in the main hallway; she really outdid herself.
Enjoy the photos.
