LIS 501, 505 and 511 are to be completed within the first two semesters of enrollment and must be completed prior to enrolling in LIS 651 or LIS 668. LIS 651 and LIS 668 can not be taken during the same semester.
All core courses must be completed prior to applying for admission to LIS 695.
During the semester that you submit your proposal for LIS 695 you will be required to complete the comprehensive examination. This exam is based on the core required courses and is a requirement of graduation. The exam is graded pass or fail. If you fail the exam the first semester you take it, the semester you submit your master's project proposal, you will only be allowed to re-take the exam once during the next semester. If you do not take the comprehensive exam the semester you submit your master's project proposal you will have only one opportunity to take the exam in the next semester. If you fail the exam twice you will not be allowed to graduate.
Only grades of "A" and "B" are considered acceptable for graduate courses, students should be aware that even a “B-“ will have a negative impact on GPA. A grade of “C”, or an overall GPA falling below 3.0, will result in the student being placed on probation. Grades of "D" or "F" are considered failing grades. The first "D" or "F" will result in immediate probation. A subsequent grade of "B-" or lower will result in dismissal from the program.
