Using SOAR
Searching for Classes | Registration Windows | Registration Process
- Go to The University of Southern Mississippi's SOAR web site at < https://soar.usm.edu >
- Click on the "GUEST" link
- On the top left of the screen, click on the "SA Self Service" link
- Next, click on the "Learner Services" link
- Next, click on the "Catalog" link
- Next, click on the "View Schedule of Classes" link
- The screen will have Institution and Term in the upper left. Scroll down to select "The University of Southern Mississippi" as the Institution. To select term desired, key a "4" in the "Term" box and click the magnifying glass image to the right. A list of terms beginning with "4" will appear. Two examples:
Summer 2004-05 = 4058
Fall 2005-06 = 4061- Once you have selected the term, click on "Basic Search"
- Now click on the "Subject Area" and key LIS.
- Insert the desired class number into the "Catalog Number" box. If you want a list of all LIS classes offered, leave the class number box empty, select the campus, and click search.
- All the classes that meet your criteria will be displayed. Click on the "class number" or any other specification to view more class details.

Students can register or drop/add classes during specified time periods (windows).

Open Registration: June 27 - July 1, August 15 - September 2***Faculty advisement is required for student access to SOAR
**Students who plan to enroll for courses via SOAR during "open" registration dates must enroll on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday and confirm fees (pay fees) by telephone (Business Services, (601)-266-4137) by the following Friday. Thursday and Friday "open" registration days are reserved for in-person registrations only. It is recommended that students enrolled in the online courses access SOAR during the early registration windows.
It is important for all students to consult the SOAR Web site at < https://soar.usm.edu > to view SOAR instructions, information from the Office of the Registrar, and information from the Office of Admissions.
