Lauren S. Zakaras, DBH, LMSW

Lauren Zakaras received her Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Arizona State University and is a LMSW in the state of Mississippi. 

Zakaras has experience in providing individual, family, and group therapy to adults, children, and families in community mental health clinics and school settings.  She has also provided group therapy to adolescents with severe emotional disturbances, medical problems, and substance abuse issues in a group home setting.  Zakaras has been trained to provide integrated behavioral care in primary care/medical settings.  She has provided individual and group treatment to those suffering from chronic medical conditions.  Zakaras integrated behavioral health services in a medical clinic where she worked with physicians to incorporate behavioral strategies for better managing their chronic illnesses.  She also organized and conducted disease management groups targeting specific chronic conditions. 

She is currently a Team Leader in the Mississippi Integrated Health and Disaster Program initiative where she provides screening, assessment, focused, brief treatment and consultation to the medical team for the patients in primary care with behavioral conditions.  Zakaras also supervises and trains MSW students on the integration of behavioral and primary care services.
