Lorie Segura - President's Volunteer Service Award

Lorie Segura, BSW student on the Gulf Coast campus, will receive the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award in a special Awards Luncheon to be held at the Beau Rivage Resort and Spa on April 23, 2012.

Lorie met her Introduction to Social Work 40 hour volunteer requirement at the International Relief and Development Agency, and enjoyed her experience so much that she continued to volunteer after the 40 hours were completed.

As a result of her dedication and commitment to community service, the agency nominated her for the award.

The Award is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, a group convened by President George W. Bush to help foster and encourage a culture of volunteer service and civic participation among Americans.
