MSW Extended Program

The University Of Southern Mississippi School Of Social Work invites applications to a unique MSW Program designed to allow students to obtain their degree while attending classes only two days (either 2 Mondays or 2 Fridays) per month.

The program began in January 2008 and will continue each semester if a sufficient number of students can be admitted (15 is the target number).

3 Options are Available

These options are in addition to our Regular Extended (part-time)
Program which offers late afternoon/evening classes:
  • Monday Cohort – spring semester, 2010
  • Friday Cohort – fall semester, 2009
  • Friday Advanced Standing Cohort – summer semester, 2009

Features of the Program:

  • All classes meet either Monday or Friday every other week for 10 weeks per semester including summers.
  • Part-time cohort model, 10 consecutive semesters from start to end – no more than 2 courses per semester (5 consecutive semesters for Advanced Standing).
  • Employer-based field placement may be available
  • Option to take courses on the “regular” schedule (weekdays, late afternoon, or evening)
  • Currently offered only on the Hattiesburg campus
