Hydrate Coring Cruise

This cruse was a part of the Gulf of Mexico Hydrates Research Consortium, with participants from Old Miss and USM. The cruse took place aboard the R/V Pelican on the 25-27 of January,2005.  The cruse had three main objectives.  The first was to field test the penetrometer.  This is used to determine how deep and how easily one can penetrate into the substrate.   The second objective was to collect core samples using a gravity corer.  These cores were later opened and sampled for sediment and foraminiferal analysis.
