Calls for Papers
The Southern Quarterly invites submissions of interdisciplinary scholarly articles, interviews with major Southern writers, composers, and artists, unpublished archival materials, photo essays, and poems anchored in the ethos of the South. We always enjoy receiving submissions, but we don’t like subjecting our potential contributors to prolonged response times. For that reason, we are currently on temporary hiatus for general topics, reading materials related only to:
- Freedom Summer (Deadline: June 15, 2014)
- The Mississippi River and Southern Icons (Deadline: November 1, 2014)
- Photography and Southern Culture (Deadline: January 1, 2015)
We will accept general submissions again beginning in August 2014.
We do not consider previously published work or work being considered elsewhere. To submit material for consideration, please follow the instructions on our submissions guidelines page.
