Outcomes-graduate program

Students completing their graduate degrees are surveyed following their off-campus clinical practicum experience. Our speech-language pathology graduates from 2007-2009 indicated that they are employed in diverse work settings that include: schools [public and private]- 43%; nursing home/rehabilitative settings- 38%; hospitals- 13%; private practice- 4%; state facilities- 2%. From our 2010 class, 80% are employed in the public schools, and 20% are employed in medical settings; 90% are employed within Mississippi. From our 2010-11 class, 53% are employed in the schools and 47% are employed in hospitals; 93% work in state.

Au.D. students from our first graduating class [2009] are employed in hospital settings [33%] and in private practice medical settings [67%]. Students from our 2010 class are employed in medical [58%], private practice [14%], and university settings [14%]; one student was seeking employment at the time of the survey. Students from our 2011 class are employed in medical [75%] and military [13%] settings; one student was seeking employment at the time of the survey. Our 2012 graduates are employed in private medical settings [43%], VA settings [14%], and military settings [14%]; at the time of our survey, two students were actively seeking employment, and one was not.

97% of our speech-language pathology and audiology graduate students [274 of 284] have passed the Praxis II ASHA examination and have successfully graduated from our program since 1995.
