Certificate of Safety and Security for Sports Events

The Center for Spectator Sports Security Management promotes a Sports Event Security Aware (SESA) "Seal of Approval" for sport venues and is committed to helping those responsible for sports event security management plan, develop, and implement highly effective all hazard systems capable of:

  •  Training all personnel involved

  • Building awareness through interoperable communication

  • Detecting and preventing events from occurring

  • Responding "correctly" if an event should occur

  • Coordinating evacuation if needed

  • Monitoring all game day operations

  • Ensuring teamwork among all response personnel

  • Planning for recovery/limited interruption

  • Constantly seeking improvement and innovation

All processes employed will be National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant. 

Services provided will accomplish the following objectives:

  • Help venues fulfil their moral and legal responsibility to protect spectators, officials, competitors, employees, the community and the environment at the highest possible degree.

  • Facilitate compliance with the contractual minimum security and safety standards obligations of the sanctioning body.

  • Facilitate compliance with the regulatory requirements of municipal, county, state, and federal agencies.

  • Enhance a facility's ability to recover from financial losses, regulatory fines, loss of market share, damages to equipment or products and business interruptions.

  • Reduce exposure to civil or criminal liability in the event of an incident.
    Enhance a venue's image and credibility with spectators, competitors, employees, suppliers and the community.

  • Serve as capability documentation that may reduce venue insurance premiums.

  • Enhance a venue's image and credibility with spectators, competitors, employees, suppliers and the community.
