Rural Training Program
Through the Rural Training Program, the SRPSI conducts in-service and specialized instruction at no cost to officers all across the State of Mississippi. These courses are taught at either Camp Shelby or at locations state-wide where local agencies can send officers to training closer to home. All courses are accepteable for meeting the municipal agency requirements for annual continuing education ("Johnny Martin") hours.
Juvenile Law and Juvenile related Incidents: 5 Nov 2013, 1800-2200 (4hrs) Bay St. Louis (Hancock County Jail)
The Hancock County SO along with SRPSI invites Officers/Deputies from the surrounding area to attend this 4hrs hour evening class. This class is designed to cover basic Juvenile Law and parts of the Youth Court Act, to better prepare officers to handle incidents involving juvenile offenders and victims.
Report Writing for LEO's: 19-20 Nov 2013 (8hrs each) Tunica County Sheriff's Office
The Tunica County Sheriff's Office along with SRPSI invites Officers/Deputies to attend this 8hr training session on either day (same course). This course will cover the characteristics of good report writing to help improve the quality, accuracy and clarity of reports. Sentence structure and grammar will be addressed as well as the fundamentals of case preparation.
