Strategic Planning

Creative. Bold. Determined.

The planning initiatives underway are constructive approaches to create inspired action. As we are evolving, growing, and moving toward the future, we are identifying our greatest assets, capacities, resources and strengths then creating new possibilities for action and innovation through planning.

Planning unleashes the power and potential of the university and moves it more rapidly toward our desired future. Read OUR STORY - how we see ourselves and envision our future, created during Phase I of our planning process.

Keep updated on our progress in these initiatives:

Phase I: Community and Campus Dialogues

We have worked to identify common goals and dreams built upon the theme “Celebrating our Past. Designing our Future.” The conversations focused on the strengths, values and successes of the University as well as its hopes and dreams for the next decade.

Phase II: Strategic Planning Committee

In February, a Strategic Planning Committee was formed with representatives from across the university. See the committee members and updates from meetings for this important planning group.

Phase III: Strategic Enrollment Planning Council

Fundamental to our success is the ability to strategically plan and manage our enrollment. Students are why we are here and growth of enrollment is a broad, important initiative driven by academic, recruitment and other related issues that are key to the future of Southern Miss. Follow this initiative as it takes shape.

Phase IV: Southern Miss Cross Creek Campus

The Southern Miss mission is to serve the higher educational needs of Gulf Coast residents. Keep updated on reports and activities in the development of a master plan for the new Southern Miss Gulf Coast campus.
