Strategic Planning

President Martha Saunders is leading the strategic planning charge along with co-chair, Associate Provost, Dr. Bill Powell. Together with a 24 member committee, the collaborative planning effort began with Campus and Community Dialogue sessions in fall 2007. There, we identified four goal areas based on our hopes and dreams for The University of Southern Mississippi.

Essential to our planning is the work being done concurrently by the Strategic Enrollment Planning Council. Enrollment is far more than admissions recruiting, it strategically shapes our student body, our revenues and resource needs and our ultimate academic mission. These two groups, the Strategic Planning Committee and the Strategic Enrollment Planning Council, will work in a fluid, interactive and mutually supportive manner as we articulate our strategic future.

We are working over the spring and summer and will have information and metrics to share with the university family beginning at the fall convocation in September 2008.

Your participation and input into this process is welcomed and encouraged. The members of the committee are eager to listen to and gather your input as they share their progress.
