Fun Times Ahead!

I feel like my life this past semester has been filled with things that have constantly kept me busy.  This week is one of the first weeks that I can actually sit back, relax and do a lot of fun "me" things.  Something that I am excited about doing this week (that some people may find a little bit ridiculous and sad) is that I finally get to catch up on my homework.  There is a big part of me that is definitely a nerd at heart,

Another thing I plan to do this week is go on a bike ride.  Bike riding is something I do when I want to get a really good workout and also have some fun outdoors. Whenever I go bike riding in Hattiesburg, I usually bike along the Long Leaf Trace. The Trace lets me go as far as I want.  I say that, because I usually go no further than about ten miles.

However, the best part of my week will be Thursday night at midnight when the movie New Moon comes out!  I have had my tickets to see this movie for about a week and a half. I am one of those dedicated "Twilighters" that has read all four books.  I have never read something so fast and intensely in my life.  Here is a picture of when I dressed up at a social function.  Obviously I went against the theme, but I still feel like I had on the best outfit.

I also will be wearing this outfit Thursday night.  For those of you who are just as ecstatic about this movie as I am, here is the trailer.  Enjoy!

Getting into the Christmas Season

This may sound a little nerdy, but I am already getting into the Christmas spirit.  Christmas is already on my mind, because the weather has started getting cooler. Even ABC Family has started advertising for their 25 days of Christmas, which starts on November 10.

The biggest thing that is about to happen that really gets me into Christmas spirit is my sorority's philanthropy, Songfest, which is next Tuesday.  What I love about our philanthropy is that it benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  All of the money we raise will go to help grant wishes for children who have life-threatening diseases.  During Songfest, all of the sororities and fraternities on campus compete by performing different Christmas carols.  My sorority even gets to perform at the end of Songfest, so it really is a lot of fun.

Here is a picture of my family from last year's Songfest.

Halloween!

This past week was kind of difficult.  I had two tests and a huge project due all in the same week.  That didn't leave much room for any fun activities.  Now that all of those things are finished, I can start having fun again, which starts tonight.

This afternoon there will be a fun event going on for children called "Trick-or-Treat on Greek Street." This event allows local kids to go trick-or-treating throughout our sorority village.  There will be fun games for them to play and, of course, candy and fun treats for them to take.

After that, my sorority will be hosting a social event called "Owl-o-ween."  I'm looking forward to seeing all the different costumes that everyone will wear.  Then, tomorrow morning I am going to the breast cancer walk happening on campus.

Once this is over, I am going home to visit the family in Long Beach.  My family gets really into the holidays, especially Halloween, so it will be really funny to see all of the cool stuff that my dad has set up.  I still haven't figured out what I'm going to dress up as for Halloween, but I'm sure something will come to me and probably at the last minute.

For Sunday, as of now, I think I will spend it as my day of rest.

Black and Gold Never Gets Old

Last week was jam-packed, but it ended up being so much fun!  Because this past week was Homecoming week, I got to dress up for a several different events.  The first event that I got to dress up for was the relay race.  Now I realize that I looked pretty ridiculous, but it was still so much fun.

The next event I got to dress up for was for the Mr. and Mrs. Varsity Pageant.  For this event, each team is supposed to pick a theme, and then all members of that time are to dress according to that theme.  This year my sorority decided to dress like hippies, and our participants in the pageant dressed as Sonny and Cher.  It was so much fun, because we all got to tie dye shirts.

Then, after the Mr. and Mrs. Varsity Pageant, we had a Hop Contest and Friday Night at the Fountain.  This time at Friday Night at the Fountain, they announced who was going to be playing at Eaglepalooza, I'm really excited because this year Girl Talk is going to be coming.

After all of this, I still had a football game left to go to, which Southern Miss won!  Also, at the game the winning teams of Homecoming week were announced. My team won first place overall from the weeks' events, and we won 2nd place for our Homecoming float!  All in all, it was a really fun and busy week!

Homecoming Week

This past weekend was so much fun.  Friday, I was able to take a road trip with some friends, and it was a lot of fun just hanging out in the car.  Then, Saturday was Black and Gold Day.  At Black and Gold Day, I was able to meet several students who are interested in coming to Southern Miss next year.  I could not think of a better way to end Black and Gold Day than our win against Memphis! The final score was 36-16.

Now what's really exciting for me is that this week is our Homecoming Week.  This is the week that student organizations all over campus compete to see who can create the best Homecoming float!  My favorite thing about Homecoming Week is the different festivities that go on throughout the whole week.  This week there will be various events, such as the fountain sit, the Mr. and Mrs. Varsity pageant, a relay race, the homecoming parade and many more. At the end of Homecoming week, we get to have another home football game and another pep rally!  I'm hoping that our football team beats Tulane this weekend for the perfect conclusion to a great Homecoming.
