I'm getting ready to start my last year as a college undergrad in the fall! I'm a little excited but mostly sad that I won't be around for too much longer. I love Southern Miss and have enjoyed every moment of the past 3 years that I have been here. I have always heard from other college students that when I got here to enjoy every moment of my college career. They told me that many students like to stretch out their college careers to 5 years instead of 4 because they love this place that much! I know what they mean now, and if I could do that, I would! From football games to going to watch plays, I've had some great memories here. Because I was an officer in an organization, I even had the opportunity to travel. I went to St. Louis and Charleston with various student organizations. Through involvement in my sorority and Southern Style, I've met some amazing people and made life long friends. Southern Miss has allowed me to grow into a great individual. I've had so much fun here and can't wait to see what's in store for my final year!

I hope you guys have been keeping up with recent events! Our baseball team just made Southern Miss history! This is the first time EVER that we have made it to the College World Series! We beat Florida this past weekend in two straight games to go to Omaha, NE for the World Series. Moments like this are times that I can say I am so proud to be a Golden Eagle! It's really funny because I've hardly ever been a big baseball fan, but this past weekend, a few Southern Style buddies and myself were yelling at the TV and cheering Southern Miss on! This is a really exciting time for Southern Miss, and trust me when I say that I will be yelling at the TV and cheering even more this Sunday at 6 pm on ESPN2 when we start our World Series play against Texas! I hope you guys will be watching too!

Hey everyone! This summer will be very exciting for me. I am a member of an organization called Southern Style. We put on orientations for all new students that come to Southern Miss. We just finished the first orientation for freshman on Friday, and it was so much fun. All summer will we plan, prepare, get to know students and tell them why Southern Miss is such a great place! I love being a part of the Southern Miss family, and I'm looking forward to a great summer!
Hey guys! My name is Whitney Blakely, and I am a senior computer science major. I am involved in several organizations on campus. I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, Eagle Connection, Southern Miss Activities Council, SGA Senate and Southern Style. If everything goes right, I will graduate in May 2010 with a major in computer science and a minor in mathematics and software engineering. I hope to go to grad school to get a masters in teaching. My goal is to teach technology classes at a high school or community college.
I love Southern Miss, and I can't wait for you to become a Golden Eagle. I am currently helping out our future Golden Eagles with preview today. Next week, I will tell you all about it.
