About Us Student Support Services Program (SSSP) is a TRIO program federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education. Through the funding of a $978,940 grant awarded over four years (September 2005-August 2009), the program provides academic assistance, personal counseling, cultural enrichment, and individual support for eligible undergraduate students at The University of Southern Mississippi. The primary objectives of SSSP are to assist participants to maintain good academic standing, to persist in college, to graduate from the university with a baccalaureate degree, and to encourage entrance into graduate or professional programs. Throughout the year, SSSP participants work with professional staff to identify long- and short-term academic and personal goals and the strategies needed to achieve them. Available to SSSP participants are individual and group tutoring, educational and developmental workshops, cultural activities, and a host of other support services. All services are provided free of cost to active program participants. The Student Support Services Program offers students access to many resources that promote academic success. At the same time, the Student Support Services Program is dedicated to creating a supportive community that will help make the university experience a positive one. A full range of academic and skill enhancement opportunities are offered through the Student Support Services Program at The University of Southern Mississippi.
