The Abbey Program (SM)
12 February - 11 May 2015
Your European neighborhood is waiting....
No country is more popular with global travelers than France, and no part of France gets more visitors each year than the Loire Valley, home of The Abbey Program SM and the village of Pontlevoy.
Your classroom is Europe. Your curriculum is intense. Your professors are world-class.
Classes being offered spring 2015 are history, English, and French (at the undergraduate level), with the possiblity of three additional disciplines. Please check back for additional information.
Be prepared. The Abbey's immersive, liberal arts curriculum will confront you with some of the most challenging questions of your entire university experience. You will grapple with the forces that shaped modern Europe and continue to define life around the globe.
At The Abbey, you'll study history where history was made. Where better to discuss court society and Renaissance architecture than in the shadows of the legendary Chateau Chenonceau? Could there be a better place to learn about D-Day than the beaches and villages where it all happened? The same intensity and immediacy are part of our art history and literature classes. Learning is active and constant. Never taken a train to class? You will on The Abbey Program SM because sometimes just getting to class is part of The Abbey Program SM adventure.
Can you study at The Abbey if you don't speak French? Absolutely! All courses are taught in English. French is also taught at all levels and you'll be amazed how quickly you'll learn the language when you immerse yourself in the culture.
Students who participant on The Abbey Program SM are mostly freshmen and sophomore or juniors and seniors who've declared a liberal arts major. Accordingly, we offer core level and advanced courses in history, art history, comparative literature and French. Our ratio of students to professors is 8-1. Are you ready to experience 24/7 growth and learning? Welcome to 13 weeks you will never forget!
Your tuition won't change significantly. You will.
When you compare The Abbey Program SM "all in" price to what it costs to study at your home institution, you'll find that The Abbey Program SM is a fantastic and very affordable investment in your future. How? Well the numbers are key.
The cost of The Abbey Program SM for the spring 2015 semester in Europe is TBA. Variable extra costs include airfare, extra meals, weekend and VisionQUEST travel, books and supplies, and miscelleanous is $3400 - $4900 (costs of spring 2013).
