Swansea, a beautiful coastal town that enjoys a reputation as a center for recreation and tourism in Britain, is a lively, modern city with some 200,000 inhabitants. Located on the spectacular Gower Peninsula, Swansea is a leading city of culture, hosting the prestigious Festival of Music each autumn and numerous cultural events throughout the year.
The University of Wales, Swansea, was founded in 1920 as one of six constituent institutions of the federal University of Wales. Surrounded by parklands on the shores of Swansea Bay, the university has a student population of 9,500, including students from more than 100 countries worldwide. Orientation takes place one week before the fall term begins. Students choose courses in the humanities, liberal arts, sciences, social sciences, and business. Students typically earn between 12 - 15 credit hours per semester.
