First Year Experience (FYE) - About Us

On Your Own, But Not Alone

Established in 1998, the Office of First Year Experience was created to enhance the satisfaction, success and persistence of first-year students. Whether an entering freshman or student transferring from another college or university, FYE provides programs and services to help you adjust personally, academically and socially at Southern Miss.

We start by helping you register for classes through Preview, which is our orientation process. After you have made your schedule we are here to assist you as you begin your classes and answer any questions that may arise as you find your place at Southern Miss.  Southern Style, a unique group of student leaders based out of our office, is also here to help you in this process.
