The SMTE and TRUMPET5 perform a diverse repertoire of original music and transcriptions for three to twenty players, including new works for the traditional ensemble, mixed ensembles and jazz arrangements with rhythm section. Students are encouraged to compose or arrange music for the groups and many of these compositions have been performed over the years. The groups perform concerts and off-campus engagements each semester in a variety of venues. Please check the trumpet studio’s Events Calendar for upcoming performances. The SMTE and TRUMPET5 welcome performing opportunities in the south Mississippi region. We can provide music to suit practically any event and custom arrangements are available. All proceeds are used to purchase new music or supplies for the ensemble and to bring guest artists to Southern Miss to work with our trumpet students.
