Lambda Alpha is a national collegiate honorary anthropology society. Requirements for undergraduate membership into Southern Miss' chapter are a 3.25 GPA in at least 12 hours of anthropology as well as a 2.75 GPA overall.
The Southern Miss Anthropology Society is an organization open to anyone interested in anthropology. Our officers are undergraduate majors who are full-time students. Graduate students in the society act as advisers to the undergraduate officers.
The society’s purpose is to provide a group in which people of similar interests can socialize and exchange ideas. Group activities include educational and recreational functions such as guest lectures, an undergraduate symposium, campouts and canoe trips. Outreach efforts include discussions, lectures and public awareness projects at community high schools and libraries.
