Requirements
Major requirements:
- ENG 340: Analysis of Literature (must be taken before any 400-level courses)
- British and American surveys (complete all of the following):
- ENG 350: Survey of British Literature I (Old English Period - Romanic Period)
- ENG 351: Survey of British Literature II (Romantic Period - present)
- ENG 370: Survey of American Literature I (Beginning - Civil War)
- ENG 371: Survey of American Literature II (Civil War - present)
- One non-traditional (ethnic) literature course (choose one of the following):
- ENG 312: Postcolonial Literature
- ENG 313: Survey of Multiethnic Literature
- ENG 372: African-American Literature
- ENG 410: Studies in Ethnic Literature
- ENG 411: Studies in Postcolonial Literature
- ENG 412: Studies in African Literature
- ENG 473: Studies in African-American Literature
- Five electives at the 300 or 400 level (at least three at the 400 level). Offerings vary.
- ENG 400: Senior Seminar (Taken the final semester, this is a writing-intensive capstone course.)
