Requirements
Students can earn either a B.A. or a B.S. in sociology. For the complete list of requirements, please see the requirements page. Sociology majors in both degree plans must take a total of 33 semester hours in the department. These hours must include:
- SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology: 3 hours
- SOC 401: Senior Capstone: 3 hours
- SOC 460: Quantitative Methods: 3 hours
- SOC 462: Methods of Social Research: 3 hours
- SOC 482: Sociological Theory: 3 hours
- Sociology electives: 18 hours
Additionally, all students must complete a minor in another area (usually 18 to 21 hours).
Students will need to schedule a total of 15 to 18 hours per semester to graduate in eight terms. Please see your adviser for more details.
