The Union and Programs Department employs approximately 50 students each semester in the areas of graduate assistants, office/desk assistants, facility managers, Event Services crew, maintenance assistants, and gameroom/lounge assistants.
Student employment at The University of Southern Mississippi is approved through the offices of Student Employment and Financial Aid. To be eligible to work on campus, you must be a full-time student in good standing and carry an academic course load of no less than 12 hours a semester. You may work for another department on campus while working for the Union and Programs Department, but you cannot exceed more than 20 hours per week.

You can expect an objective assessment of your job performance each semester. At Southern Miss, we believe in personal growth and individual recognition. Our supervisors will focus on building positive working relationships with you. The performance evaluation process gives you the opportunity for open communication with your supervisor. Your job-related strengths and areas for improvement will be defined. You will also want to discuss your ideas, suggestions and feelings about the evaluation and your supervisor's expectations.
