It is our privilege to serve the University community as co-chairs for this year’s United Way campaign and we invite you to show your support for this important effort.  Did you know that United Way of Southeast Mississippi provides funding for 21 agencies?  These include everything from Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Christian Services, to our own campus agencies like the Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention, the Children’s Center for Communication and Development, the DuBard School for Language Disorders, and many more!  Our goal this year is $105,000—a goal that is easily within reach with our combined efforts!

• T-shirts will be given to all fair share, double fair share and grand givers! (Fair share = just 1 hour’s pay per month)

• Double fair share (Double fair share = just 2 hour’s pay per month) and grand givers ($1000 annually) will be entered into a drawing for numerous prizes and gifts, including a weekend at a coast casino, Campus Book Mart gift, Kym Garraway print, Theatre and Dance season tickets and many more!

• Pledge cards must be turned in to Human Resources, Box 5111 by November 2 to be eligible for T-shirts and prizes.

T-shirts and prizes are nice but the real reason that we give is that United Way agencies are there when we may be unable to respond individually. Daily we see needs in our community—a family loses their home in a fire, children need after-school activities and tutoring, frail senior citizens need assistance to stay in their homes, a child can’t communicate.  We know that United Way agencies will be there to respond when we can’t be.  Won’t you join us in giving generously so that so many community needs may continue to be met?
