Consulting | Creative Concepts
University Communications develops and executes communications projects, campaigns and messages for the university on an overall level. We also assist individual university units with creative consulting, concept development, creative copywriting and project management by assessing specific needs and working to develop a communication plan.
University Communications manages an overall advertising plan to promote and strengthen the university brand. Individual units are responsible for buying and managing their own advertising. However, our office can help any university unit with message development, media buying guidance, creative concepts and graphic design to help ensure the success and continuity of advertising efforts.
Each time we communicate, an impression is made on our audience. All communications components such as brochures, posters, advertisements, websites, and other marketing and public relations materials impact the Southern Miss brand. Externally, our brand reflects our traditions, strengths and priorities. Internally, this identity conveys a sense of pride and commitment to a common mission.
A unified identity is vital to the clear and consistent representation of the university. Graphic Standards is the guide to applying our visual identity while the Style Guide provides standards for our writing.
Communications materials representing the university should be approved through University Communications and will be reviewed according to the guidelines presented in both the Graphic Standards and Style Guide.
Approval from University Communications is required by Procurement Services in order to process payment for any printed materials, advertising or promotional items being paid for with university funds. If your communications materials require approval, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
