Budget Information
The total budget for the University, including Auxiliaries and Athletics is over $248 million for 2009-10. A review of a Monthly Summary Report by Area (PDF) provides an overview of the complexity of the USM $189.1 million E&G budget, the Educational and General funds that are subject to cuts from state appropriations. Of particular interest are the column under Budget YTD (Column 3), which shows the annual budget for the particular area, and the columns under Expenditures YTD and Remaining Spending Authority (Columns 9 & 10).
More detailed information about the USM budget is published in the 2009-2010 Annual Budget book, copies of which are on reserve in Cook Library and in college offices.
Further explanation about the different aspects of the budget is available in a presentation (PDF) by Allyson Easterwood, University Controller to the UPC-AP subcommittee.
Be aware that some discrepancies in the numbers may occur due to the midyear cuts in the 2009-10 budget.
Student credit hour analyses by academic areas are available here. These pages include additional information on the budgets of academic units.
