as an advisory body to the vice president for research
and economic development on matters pertaining to the
development of research and creative activities at The
University of Southern Mississippi. To this end, the council
is responsible for recommending to the vice president
policies and procedures which will enhance the ability
of the university to realize its potential for distinction

of the URC. The vice president for research and economic
development, the director of
Sponsored Programs Administration, chair of the Institutional Review Board, chair of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and
the University Libraries representative function as ex
officio nonvoting members of the council.
