Dr. Cheryl Goggin is an art historian who studies medieval art and engages in research on manuscript illumination. She focuses on twelfth-century French and German authors who designed diagrammatic miniatures as part of their religious works. She has studied Hugh of Fouilloy’s De rota verae religionis et simulationis (On the Wheel of True and False Religion), and Peter of Poitiers’s Compendium historiae in genealogia Christi (Compendium of the History of the Genealogy of Christ). Dr. Goggin is currently completing a major research project on Conrad of Hirsau’s De fructu carnis et spiritus (On the Fruit of Flesh and Spirit) and his Speculum virginum (The Mirror of Virgins).
