George Schmitz is the Chairman of the Coatings Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) with its’ principal mission to award grants and scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students through the encouragement of sound university programs, research and careers in Coatings Science. He has served as a Trustee and Board Member of CIEF; acted as President from 2008-2011 and in 2012 was elected as Chairman by the American Coatings Association.
In 2005, George founded Geochem Solutions, Inc; where he serves as President/ CEO and manages a Research & Development and Manufacturing Group which designs specialty polymers for the Coatings Industry.
As a recognized expert of polymer chemistry, George has held various technical roles including Materials Engineer at Kollmorgan Corporation; Research Engineer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he has co-authored various technical publications and is cited on several patents, and also has served as an Adjunct Professor of Coatings Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.
George also has been retained as an Expert Trial Witness for various Trademark infringement and Product liability cases specializing in forensic chemical analysis and expert testimony related to polymers and coating systems. He holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science from Columbia University. He serves in New York as a Board Member for the Metropolitan Paint & Coatings Association, and serves nationally on the Board of Directors of the American Coatings Association. |
