How to Use the Writing Center

The Writing Center has moved to our convenient new location on the first floor of Cook Library, just past Starbucks.

You may either call the Writing Center at 266-4821 to make an appointment or walk in Cook Library Room 112, for a tutoring session. However, sessions sometimes book up weeks in advance, so it is best to call or drop by ahead of time whenever possible since you may or may not get a tutoring session if you walk in during a busy time.

Appointments are made on the hour, for 45 minutes.

You may schedule appointments for up to 2 hours a week.

Appointments are held for 10 minutes after your assigned tutoring session; after 10 minutes, we allow students who walk in to be tutored during your assigned time.

If you must cancel an appointment, please call us and let us know. If you miss 2 tutoring sessions without calling to cancel, we cannot allow you to make any more appointments for the semester, though you may still walk in and be tutored.

Please remember to bring your assignment sheet with you, as this will help both you and your tutor understand what is expected of you for your assignment. Also, feel free to come in and brainstorm - - you don’t have to have anything written for us to help you!
