How to Use

The USM Writing Center Services:

The Writing Center sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes and begin on the hour. We do accept walk-ins. However, we often book up a week in advance and strongly encourage clients to make an appointment.

To schedule an appoinment, you can call us at (601)266-4821, drop by The Writing Center on the first floor of Cook Library.

Each tutoring session lasts about 45 minutes, so you should plan to stay about this long. Even if you don’t think you’ll need that much time, you should give yourself the entire session since you may need more time than you think. Keep in mind that it’s better to have too much time than not enough!

Also, be sure that you arrive no later than 10 minutes after your scheduled time. Not only does this ensure that you have enough time to work with a tutor, but also, we are often so busy that there are other students wanting to walk in and be tutored at the time you have scheduled. We keep your appointment scheduled for 10 minutes; after 10 minutes, we will accept walk-ins during your scheduled time.
