Department Awards
Sociology professor Ann Marie Kinnell received the University Excellence in Service Award for 2009 in recognition of her extensive contributions to projects at USM such as the American Humanics program/Non-Profits minor and Service Learning Program as well as to professional organizations including the Mississippi Academy of Sciences. In addition, in 2009 she also was given the Dudley F. Peeler Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Mississippi Academy of Sciences. This year Dr. Kinnell was also awarded the 2008-2009 American Humanics Jeannette and Jerome Cohen Research Grant, which provided funds that allowed her to interview people who are working in the non-profit sector about internship programs.
