Heather Williams (2004 - English) will receive her MFA in Poetry at Florida State University in Spring 2007. She teaches First-Year Writing at FSU, including honors Freshman Comp. and a self-designed course--Writing About Insanity. Her poetry has appeared in the e-zines Mindfire Renew & Sage of Consciousness (under the name H.C. Williams), as well as FSU's student-run newspaper called The Yeti. Her poem about hurricane Katrina will appear in a collection of textual responses to that catastrophic storm (late 2007). H.C. recently became the Content Poetry Editor for the independent literary magazine Voix du Vieux. She has presented at several conferences and chaired a panel at the 2006 Florida Literary Arts Coalition. M. Katherine Holloway (1979 - Chemistry and French) obtained a M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 and 1985, respectively. Immediately after graduate school, she began working at Merck Research Laboratories in West Point, PA, where she is currently a Senior Research Fellow doing molecular modeling of drug-receptor interactions. Over the years, she has been involved in a variety of projects, several of them AIDS-related, including the development of CRIXIVAN, an HIV-1 Protease inhibitor. Thankfully, this class of drugs has helped turn AIDS into a managed disease, instead of a death sentence. She has been married to Charles H. After 17 years away from Mississippi, I am now in Jackson working as a law clerk to fellow Virginia Law grad Judge Daniel P. Jordan, III of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. I plan to return to teaching and writing after my clerkship. Tracy Thiel (now Costello) (1994 - Math and Physics) earned a Ph.D. in Biomathematics and Biostatistics & Human and Molecular Genetics at the University of Texas/Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, successfully defending "A Full Pedigree Based Method for the Statistical Assessment of Genetic Anticipation" on March 8, 2004. She held an R25 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer Prevention in the Department of Epidemiology at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and has recently transferred to the MD Anderson's Department of Health Disparities Research. She married Kirt Costello (Ph.D. (1997) in Space Physics from Rice University) in May 1998. their son, Alexander William, was born on February 9th, 2001 and their daughter, Ashlynn Victoria was born September 25th, 2004.
