August 28, 2008- In the normal hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to overlook things that are staring right at us.
We had one of those "in your face" moments this week while waiting for Room 202 [ one of our lecture rooms ] to empty out. There it was- the C A I D bulletin board. The fingerspelling caught our eye. After a few moments of attempting to decode the hand shapes, we realized the letters were right there for us to see [ should have had that second cup of morning coffee ]. The news articles about students in our Education of the Deaf program made for interesting reading as we waited for our classroom to become available.
After class, we decided to walk around the second floor and shoot photos of some of our other bulletin boards- found one for N A F D A [near the Audiology sound suites] and another for S S H A [tucked between classrooms 202 and 203].

Our Graduate Student Bulletin Board
Of course, there's the infamous bulletin board next to the main office which no one seems to like- it contains "mug shots" of our current grad students. This particular board is really intended for us "old timers" on the faculty to associate names with faces. Students consistently complain about their picture, even though we assure everyone that these photos are for local use only. :)
So the next time you're strolling down a hallway on the second floor, take a moment to check out our bulletin boards. One of your fellow students [or, perhaps, several] took a little time from their day to make them possible for the rest of us to enjoy.
