4/15/09- Nothing, not even an economic slow down, could stand in the way of the S H S Cubs softball team from making it's way into Southern's 2009 intramural competition. Given our incredibly rainy spring, only three games have actually been played thus far.
Coach Teller distributed the following e-mail on April 7th after the game against the "Enfeugo" team.
CUBS WIN!
Cubs 8 Enfeugo 3
The SHS Cubs played another great game today.
Rick was perfect on the mound striking out 2 and and walking none.
He also made some good defensive plays.
Steve Cloud and Shane had long balls for multiple runs and the outfield caught some long fly balls. Ashley George's catch in deep shortfield stopped a sure homerun, and the infield turned another double play.
Tournament play begins next Tuesday. Time and Field will be announced soon.
Plan to be there. We had just enough players to field a team today without giving up an out.
Welcome Melissa Murray--a good first game.
Comment heard after the game: "I can't believe those old guys beat us."
Go Cubs!
We caught up with our beloved team on Field 1 this afternoon (April 15th). It was the first playoff game and, we're sorry to report, the last for us this season. It really didn't matter- as always, students, faculty and friends just got out there and had fun. We shot the photos below for our scrapbook. Enjoy!
Oh, by the way, welcome aboard, Dr. Scott. You were a great catcher, and we want you back next year.
