Instructions for Adding Classes in SOAR
To add classes:
1. After logging into SOAR, click on Self Service.
2. On the next screen, click Student Center.
3. In the Enrollment menu, locate Add a Class and click on it.

4. Select the desired term (currently Spring 2007-2008) by clicking on the bubble to the left, then click the green button labeled CONTINUE.

5. Click the dropdown menu and select Search for Classes. Then, click the green button labeled search.

6. As the page's instructions indicate, you need to enter at least two search criteria into the search boxes.

NOTE: In order to use the select subject button, you will need to know the Department and Course number (for example ANT 221 for Cultrual Anthropology). For the purpose of this example, we will use Dr. Bomhold's Graduate Special Problems course.
However, any course can be found using this method. The Department and Course number for Dr. Bomhold's Special Problems course is LIS 692.
7. If you already know the Department and Course number, you can simply enter that information into the text boxes. For LIS 692, you type LIS in the Course Subject box, 692 the Course Number box, and, since it is a Graduate course, you would select Graduate in the Course Career box.
Click the green SEARCH button when you are finished.

NOTE: The following instructions will guide you through the process of using the select subject function. Proceed to step 8 if you do not wish to use the select subject function.

After you click the green select subject button, the screen below appears. Choose the letter that matches your desired Department's name. For the example, we will choose L for Library and Information Science.
However, this will work for any Department.

When the page containing the Department you are searching for appears, click the green select button to the left of it.

This will direct you back to the Class Search screen with the Course Subject box now containing the proper information.

Now, complete filling in the boxes. If you know the course number, enter it into the Course Number box and select Graduate or Undergraduate in the Course Career box.
For this example, we will select Graduate because LIS 692 is a graduate level class. However, this method will work for undergraduate classes as well.
The results of this search will return all the graduate level LIS courses in the schedule listed for the term you selected. Simply scroll through the listings and find the desired course.
Find the desired Section of the course and click the green select class button.
8. Double check the information to ensure it is the course you want. If it is, click the green Next button.
9. A message should appear in a green box informing you that the course has been added to your enrollment shopping cart. Beneath the enrollment shopping cart, click the button labeled PROCEED TO STEP 2 OR 3.
10. Click the green FINISH ENROLLING button.
11. From here, click on the My Class Schedule button.
12. This screen displays the courses you are scheduled to attend.
