Black and Gold Day is our annual fall campus visit experience exclusively for high school seniors! Black and Gold Day activities include:

  • Campus Tours
Tour the beautiful Southern Miss campus and a residence hall with a student tour guide.
  • Admissions, Financial Aid, and Scholarship Overview
Learn the essential information your family will need to know about admission to Southern Miss and receive helpful insight about financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
  • Check Your Admission Status
Check on your application status or begin the application process. Representatives from the Office of Admissions will be available to assist you.
  • Academic Programs
Visit with representatives from our six academic colleges to learn more about the undergraduate programs and careers that interest you.
  • Student Organization and Campus Department Fair
Talk with current students and staff about resources, activities, and student organizations that will make your Southern Miss college experience successful and exciting.

After Black and Gold Day, we invite you to stick around to take part in time-honored Southern Miss game day traditions:

  • Eagle Walk – Two hours before kickoff, fans line up along College Drive and Eagle Walk Drive to watch The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Seymour, the Dixie Darlings, cheerleaders, and the Golden Eagle football team parade to The Rock. Keep an ear open for a blast from the ROTC cannon signaling the start of Eagle Walk!
  • Tailgate Concert Series – Get ready to enjoy live music on Centennial Green in the heart of campus! Hosted by Southern Miss Radio, the concerts begin 15 minutes after Eagle Walk and are free and open to the public.
  • Tailgating – Check out the vibrant tailgating scene around campus, making sure you visit The District. Situated near the Ogletree Alumni House, The District is one of the most popular tailgating spots on campus for students, alumni, and friends.
  • Game Day at the Rock – Join us in M.M. Roberts Stadium, affectionately known as “The Rock,” for the Southern Miss vs. Rice (Oct. 1, 6 p.m. kickoff) or Southern Miss vs. Charlotte (Nov. 5, 2:30 p.m. kickoff) football games!

*There is no cost to attend Black and Gold Day. Football tickets will be available for purchase at a discounted rate for Black and Gold Day attendees upon registration.
