Manager of Interscholastic Sports Safety and Security
Member of USM’s National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS⁴). His research areas include spatiotemporal crime and security pattern analysis, situational prevention, and complex systems. Dr. Kurland has held several research and teaching positions including a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rutgers University where he worked alongside Stockholm Prize winning criminologist Dr. Ronald V. Clarke, as well as a Senior Lecturer (U.S. equivalent to Associate Professor) in the Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at The University of Waikato in New Zealand.
