New site Request

Submitting a New Web Request?

Before you submit the new site request form, here are some steps that will help you in the process:

  • To create a site that effectively communicates with the audiences you would like to reach, start by answering the following questions for yourself:
    • What is the goal of the website? Identify your long-term and short-term objectives.
    • Who is the primary audience you would like to reach? (Prospective Students)
    • Who are your secondary audiences? (Ex: Current students, Parents and family members, Faculty and staff, Prospective employees, Alumni, Donors, Community members, Influencers (Opinion leaders and decision makers), external researchers, peer institutions, or partner organizations.
    • What key content areas are these audiences looking for on your site? Please create a list in order from highest to lowest priority.

Please be aware that development of the website cannot start until the content is developed. If this is a new center, institute, or program it cannot be created until official IHL approval.

  • Step 1: Draft content for your website landing page (see form)
  • Step 2: Select the 6 menu items and work on your sitemap. Area/School navigation structures were set-up to be parallel based on web page visitor feedback, and the first three items should stay the same: About, Programs, People. Other potential menu items:  Resources, Centers & Institutes, Alumni & Friends . If you need area-specific menu items please submit.
  • Step 3: Gather all relevant content for each menu item selected. Identify high-res photos and high-quality videos, if you have some, for each page.
  • Step 4: Fill out the new website request form.

  • Website Sitemap Example: Here is a sitemap template if you need help getting started.
  • Website Layout: For your reference when filling out the new site request form, here is an example of the layout.
  • Sitemap Tool: If you are more of a visual person, use Gloomaps to create your sitemap.
