Cost and Deadlines


The 2017 program is $7,200 for undergraduates and $7,400 for graduates. The cost includes the following:

  • program deposit ($250 due by application/deposit deadline listed below)
  • round trip international airfare* (arriving London/departing London)
  • tuition and fees for 6 semester hours
  • accommodations
  • academic excursions
  • Oyster card with ‎£15 pre-loaded for first weekend travel

*Students wishing to make their own flight arrangements may subtract $1200 from the cost above.

*Students enrolled in the Geography course will have an additional $300 fee for a required excursion to Scotland held during the mini- break. 

 Additionally, most students spend between an extra $3000 to $5000 to fund:

  • meals
  • Oyster card top-up
  • WeekendEXPLORE Travel
  • mini-break travel and housing
  • books and supplies
  • incidentals and gifts 


Financial Aid

The British Studies Program qualifies for financial aid in the form of guaranteed student loans, Pell Grants, or applicable graduate assistantships. Southern Miss students requiring financial aid should contact the Office of Study Abroad.

Application and Payment Deadlines

Completed online application, with $250 deposit, are due by February 17, 2017. Program deposits should be paid to the Office of Study Abroad. Balance of fees, less deposit, should be paid according to the regular summer schedule as outlined by the USM Business Services Office. By Feb. 17, 2017: $250 program deposit paid to the USM Office of Study Abroad.

All USM Students should follow the summer 2017 deadline calendar by USM Business Services to pay final balance.

By April 15, 2017: Proof of financial aid must be submitted to the USM Office of Study Abroad. (Confirmation from home institution financial aid or application for loan, etc.)

May 1, 2017: Students who do not issue proof of financial aid, must pay balance of fees to the USM Business Services. OR set up an Installment Payment Plan with USM Business Services. You must notify us that the payment plan has been set up. 

If students do not issue proof of financial aid or do not pay balance of fees by given deadline, they will be withdrawn from the program and owe all unrecoverable fees.
