The goal of the Student Economic Development Association (SEDA), is to provide a student organization made up of both graduate and undergraduate students that want to pursue careers that will promote economic development on a local, regional, national, and international level. SEDA fosters a community of networking, learning, and leadership within the College of Business in the Master of Science Economic Development program at Southern Miss. We hold networking and social events throughout each semester to connect students with scholars and practicing economic developers, many of whom are alumni of our master’s program. SEDA members strive to enhance their skill sets in learning how to properly communicate, interact, and dine with other business professionals.  Examples include dinner etiquette, golf lessons, and participating in forums to know how to adapt to various situations in "closing the deal" in and out of the classroom.  Each semester, SEDA members have the opportunity to tour and visit with other economic development organizations in the state, host an annual football tailgate and/or a baseball tailgate, give back to the community by participating in volunteer activities or community service, and experience so much more.  SEDA also supports and sponsors its members to attend the  Mississippi Economic Development Council events.
