MBA Student Testimonials

The pursuit of my MBA has been a personal goal since I graduated from the New York State Merchant Marine Academy in 1991.  Now that I have begun my final semester, I can honestly say that it has been a challenging, yet very rewarding, 18 months. USM’s MBA program has pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to go beyond what I previously thought was my academic limit.  Now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I am more convinced than ever that I made the right decision by going back for my MBA at USM.

I chose the Professional MBA at USM’s Gulf Park campus primarily because I was able to enroll in the program and continue to work full-time.  The location and class schedule meant I didn’t have to move or take time off from my career or settle for an online program in order to attend an AACSB-accredited business school.

Once I was in the program I established great relationships with the faculty and other professionals in this area who are also working to sharpen their skills.  I’ve stayed in contact with these professors and classmates even after I graduated the program and have found them to be great resources.  I was also reminded how much I enjoy being in the classroom; I now teach one course of accounting as an adjunct instructor at USM and have found that very rewarding.

As economic pathways shift, change is inevitable. Regardless of your stage in your career, including a complete career path change like me, the MBA program at USM can provide you with the tools necessary to be prepared for that change. Although the nature of business is highly transferable, USM's professors and courses have given me a deeper knowledge of the global environment, engagement and exploration of global and community affairs, and a deeper personal development that will carry me through lifelong success."
