NCS4 Background

NCS4Established in 2006, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi has become a recognized academic leader in addressing potential threats and risks to the safety and security at sporting events. Through cutting-edge research, educational programs and innovative solutions, the Center equips current and future sports managers with the specialized skills and knowledge they need to address real challenges in maintaining secure sports venues.

NCS4 works with recognized and respected safety and security experts across the country from professional sports leagues, marathons, high schools, and colleges/universities.

For students accepted into the MBA program, NCS4 offers internships and graduate assistantships. NCS4 also offers opportunities for students to gain real-world experience such as:

  • Participate in applied research by partnering with sports organizations and security companies on projects and case studies that support graduate curriculum;
  • Gain firsthand experience through NCS4’s National Laboratory applying the latest technology to solutions in the field; and
  • Receive guidance and collaborate with industry professionals and experts at the annual National Sports Safety and Security Conference and various national summits produced by NCS4
