Cheryl Wenzler is the Office Manager for the College of Business Undergraduate Academic Services Office with the responsibility of answering and screening incoming calls for the office, scheduling and generating paperwork necessary for appointments with academic advisors and director. She assists students, faculty, staff, visitors, and external constituencies with questions and, at times, serves as information desk for the entire college. Mrs. Wenzler also assists students with filing degree applications for submission, copying and filing of office copies. She assists students enrolled in the College of Business who have a probationary or suspension status to present their case to the Suspension Appeals Committee. Maintains College of Business student academic records, and supervises student worker(s) as applicable, in addition to carrying out other supervisory responsibilities.
Prior to her employment at The University of Southern Mississippi, Mrs. Wenzler was employed at the Myrtles Nursing Center in Columbia, MS as an Administrative Assistant. Duties included; payroll, reconciling monthly department budgets, managing patient billing accounts, filing, and telephone calls.
Mrs. Wenzler served in the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1978 to 1998 as an Intelligence Specialist/Manager stationed at Keesler AFB, Biloxi MS, Crete Greece, San Antonio, Texas, Brindisi Italy and Anchorage, Alaska. During her 20-year career, her duty titles included: Intelligence Systems Manager, Operations Training Manager, Operations Production Manager, garnering 20 years’ experience in conducting investigations and interviewing individuals accused of Drug and Alcohol Abuse, domestic violence, supervising personnel, counseling, evaluating personnel on job performance, providing guidance for further job advancement, reviewed job applications, hiring and termination of personnel. Wenzler also managed four 24-hour sections comprised of 203 personnel, with duties including counseling, problem solving, analyzing duty performance, implanting correction actions, enforcement of policies, and supervising. Conducted job performance evaluations, authored and developed job qualification standards, evaluations and training plans for intelligence positions.
After retiring from the Air Force, Mrs. Wenzler was hired by the State of Alaska, Department of Revenue, Child Support Services starting out as an Administrative Clerk III and promoting to Interstate Child Support Supervisor II, managing and supervising Child Support Officers and Administrative Clerks. Her duties included Investigating and resolving complaints from case parties, Attorneys, Legislators, the Ombudsman or other state agency representatives. Conducted interviews with case parties, genetic testing in establishing paternity, attending formal administrative and court hearings regarding child support orders.
Mrs. Wenzler currently is also a Youth Ministry Director for St. Paul Catholic Church in Tylertown, MS and Holy Trinity Catholic in Columbia, MS
