Spring is here and that means it’s time for the Biological Sciences Plant Sale!  The sale will be April 8th from 8 a.m – 2 p.m.  The sale will be located at the Lake Thoreau Environmental Center.

Azaleas:

We have many unique connoisseur varieties including ‘Koromo Shikibu’ (they will go fast).  This year we will be featuring Aromi azaleas.  These uniquely southern azaleas are featured in a new exhibit at the Mobile Botanical Garden.

Natives:

As usual, we have a nice assortment of berry-producing natives for attracting birds.  This spring, we have also added some great native grass species.  We will also have some new aquatic grasses and sedges.

Tropicals:

Each spring we provide you with some of the hottest hardy tropical plants around.  Of course, we’ll have bananas, palms, and elephant ears.  We’ll also have Heliconia and Strelitziai!

Fruit Trees:

Somewhere in your kitchen is an empty jar waiting to be filled with homemade preserves.  Don’t disappoint your jars!  Blueberries, pears, blackberries, and figs!

Asian selections:

Get your garden feng shui going with our new selection of plants that are suited for Japanese style gardens including lots of evergreen confers of all sizes. Make a garden statement with one of our Chamaecyparis or Cryptomeria selections.

Classic selections:

No southern garden is complete without Bridal Wreath, Sweet Olive, and Gardenia.  Add some new classics to your backyard with Dwarf Abelia, Silver Mist Juniper, and Drift Roses.  Yes, we’ll have some Eucalyptus.

Proceeds will benefit the Lake Thoreau Environmental Center.  Come get your hands dirty and help support the beautification of Southern Miss!
